Soniccouture announced the second version of Skiddaw Stones, a library for Kontakt featuring sounds from 61 ancient Cumbrian rocks. The latest version of the classic Soniccouture instrument offers detailed sampling, effects and an inspiring KSP Generative sequencer. The lithophone, dating from 1840, consists of 61 tuned and properly shaped rocks made from rare stone found in Cumbria, England. Hornfels is said to have a superior and unique tone. Two different sets of hammers were used for the recording, then the articulations of a wooden hammer scraping the surface of the stone were recorded. The result is truly mesmerizing. The library carries a truly ancient sound. You will not find analogues of this instrument.
